ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR (Inmate/Support Services)

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position involves professional, administrative, and technical skills encompassing responsibilities involving the overall operation of the BRRJA with an emphasis on inmate services, public procurement, and implementation of the BRRJA Capital Improvement Plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a strong financial background and experience in budget preparation preferred and should be able to demonstrate proficiency in local government funding, operation, and public procurement. A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in public safety preferred. Must maintain Jail Officer certification as mandated by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. If not currently certified, must be able to obtain DCJS Jail Officer certification within 12 months of employment. Must have a high school diploma or GED with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Corrections, or Criminal Justice preferred. A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be substituted. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.

FOOD PRODUCTION WORKER – Lynchburg Adult Detention Center

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for ensuring preparation of meals according to a preplanned menu, kitchen sanitation, and supervising inmate workers. Weekends, and holidays are required. Must have experience in batch cooking and operate kitchen equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older, high school graduate or equivalent, and have a valid Virginia driver’s license.

SALARY RANGE: $25,085 – $26,520

NURSE MANAGER – Amherst County Adult Detention Center

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing with administrative duties, including supervising other nursing staff, as well as providing nursing care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older, high school graduate or equivalent, and have completed an accredited nursing program leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Must have a minimum of two years supervisory experience, preferably in a correctional facility. Requires excellent assessment skills.
BENEFITS PACKAGE: Health, dental, and vision insurance. VRS retirement, and 13 paid holidays. Flexible spending account and deferred compensation.
SALARY RANGE: $42,376 – $53,926

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE – Amherst County Adult Detention Center, Lynchburg Adult Detention Center (full-time & part-time both sites)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the application and administration of nursing skills in the correctional facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older, high school graduate or equivalent, or have completed an accredited nursing program leading to certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  One year’s nursing experience preferred. Must be able to work evening shift 2 p.m.-10:30 p.m. and weekends. A drug screening and extensive background checks will be performed.

SALARY RANGE: Depends on level of experience.

JAIL OFFICERS – All Sites

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities are the care and security of inmates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a U.S. citizen, 20 years of age or older, high school graduate or equivalent, and have a valid Virginia driver’s license. Drug screening and extensive background checks will be performed.
BENEFITS PACKAGE: Health, dental, and vision insurance. VRS retirement, and 13 paid holidays. Flexible spending account and deferred compensation.
SALARY RANGE: $31,630
